Grade chemistry and mechanical properties supplied in carbon steel pipe & pipe fittings.
Chemical composition and mechanical properties are grade properties, not form properties — the same grade keeps the same chemistry whether it is supplied as sheet, plate or coil. The tables below list the specified limits for each grade we stock in carbon steel pipe & pipe fittings. Values are weight percent (maximum unless a range is shown); mechanical values are minima in the annealed condition.

Frequently asked questions.
Answers to the questions our Mumbai desk is asked most often.
What is the difference between ASTM A106 and A53 pipe?
+
A106 Gr. B is a hot-finished seamless pipe intended for high-temperature pressure service and is fully killed. A53 Gr. B can be seamless or ERW and is a general-purpose pipe for mechanical and low-pressure duty. For steam and process lines above 200 °C, specify A106.
Which fittings match carbon steel pipe?
+
ASTM A234 WPB buttweld fittings to ASME B16.9 in the same schedule, A105 forged flanges to ASME B16.5, and A105 socket-weld or threaded fittings to ASME B16.11 for small bore.
Do you supply IBR-certified carbon steel pipe?
+
Yes. IBR Form III-C certification is arranged for boiler and steam piping in India, alongside EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 material certificates and hydrostatic test reports.
What is the difference between Sch 40 and Sch 80?
+
Schedule sets the wall thickness for a given nominal bore. Sch 80 is thicker than Sch 40, so it carries higher pressure but has a smaller internal bore and costs more per metre. For 4" NB, Sch 40 is 6.02 mm wall against 8.56 mm for Sch 80.
Can you supply pipe for low-temperature service?
+
Yes. ASTM A333 Gr. 6 pipe with A420 WPL6 fittings, impact tested at –45 °C, for refrigeration, cryogenic-adjacent and cold-climate installations.
