SS Sheet
Manufacturer, stockist and exporter of cold-rolled and hot-rolled stainless steel sheets in 201, 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321, 904L and Duplex 2205 — with 2B, BA, No.4 and No.8 mirror finishes, cut-to-size, and EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 MTC.
What is Stainless Steel Sheet?
Stainless steel sheet is a flat-rolled corrosion-resistant steel product supplied in thicknesses up to 6 mm (cold-rolled) or 8 mm (hot-rolled), in widths from 1000 mm to 2000 mm and lengths up to 6000 mm. Steelco Metal & Alloys stocks and exports stainless steel sheet in austenitic (304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321, 904L), duplex (2205) and ferritic (430) grades — with 2B, BA, No.4 satin and No.8 mirror finishes, EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 mill test certificates, and value-added services including cut-to-size, laser cutting, polishing and PVC coating.
All grades we stock in stainless steel sheet.

Why Choose Stainless Steel Sheet
Corrosion resistant across environments
Chromium-rich passive layer resists atmospheric, chemical and marine attack; Mo-bearing grades (316L, 317L, 904L, 2205) extend service into chloride and acidic media.
Formable, weldable, machinable
Excellent deep-drawing and bending behaviour; TIG, MIG and resistance welding all supported. Low-carbon 'L' grades avoid sensitisation after welding.
High strength-to-weight ratio
Austenitic grades keep strength at cryogenic and elevated temperatures; duplex 2205 doubles the yield strength of 304 for lighter, thinner fabrications.
Hygienic and food-safe
Non-porous, non-reactive surface finish suited to dairy, pharma, food and beverage service. Passivated per ASTM A967 on request.
100% recyclable
Stainless steel is fully recyclable without loss of property — a preferred material for LEED, GRIHA and low-embodied-carbon construction.

Grade chemistry and mechanical properties supplied in stainless steel sheet.
Chemical composition and mechanical properties are grade properties, not form properties — the same grade keeps the same chemistry whether it is supplied as sheet, plate or coil. The tables below list the specified limits for each grade we stock in stainless steel sheet, tested and certified to ASTM A240 / ASME SA240. Values are weight percent (maximum unless a range is shown); mechanical values are minima in the annealed condition.

Frequently asked questions.
Answers to the questions our Mumbai desk is asked most often.
What thickness range is classified as stainless steel sheet vs plate?
+
As per ASTM A240 and industry practice, stainless steel in flat-rolled form up to 6 mm (¼ inch) is classified as sheet, and thicker gauges as plate. Steelco stocks CR sheet in 0.3–6 mm and HR sheet up to 8 mm; anything thicker moves to our /ss-plate range.
Which is the best grade for outdoor and marine environments — 304 or 316?
+
For coastal, splash-zone and chloride-rich atmospheres always specify 316 or 316L. The 2–3% molybdenum in 316 dramatically improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion vs 304. For heavier chloride exposure (desalination, offshore) consider 904L or Duplex 2205.
What is the difference between 2B and BA finish?
+
Both are cold-rolled bright finishes. 2B is annealed, pickled and lightly skin-passed — smooth but not fully reflective, ideal for process equipment. BA (bright annealed) is annealed under a protective hydrogen atmosphere, producing a highly reflective, near-mirror surface suited to architectural and appliance applications.
Do you supply cut-to-size stainless steel sheets?
+
Yes. In-house shearing, laser and plasma cutting is available for all stocked grades. Standard cut tolerance is ± 0.5 mm on shear and ± 0.1 mm on laser; DXF / DWG accepted for CNC profile cutting.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for stainless steel sheet?
+
There is no fixed MOQ for stocked grades — orders start at a single sheet or a single cut piece. For non-stock grades, thicknesses or dimensions, a mill-run MOQ applies (typically 3–5 MT per size); lead time is 4–8 weeks.
What is the typical lead time?
+
Ready stock items dispatch within 24–72 hours from our Mumbai warehouse. Cut-to-size and polished orders take 3–5 working days. Mill-run project orders quote lead times of 4–8 weeks depending on grade, gauge and dimensions.
Which mill test certificates and inspections do you provide?
+
Every dispatch carries an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate as standard. On request we also arrange 3.2 certification with third-party witness (TÜV, SGS, BV, Lloyd's, IRS, IBR), PMI reports, dye-penetrant and ultrasonic testing.
Do you export stainless steel sheets from India?
+
Yes. We ship regularly to the GCC, Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, Latin America and the USA. Standard export packing is seaworthy wooden crates lined with VCI paper, dispatched FOB / CFR / CIF via Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra and Mumbai ports.
