AM60B is a magnesium alloy containing 6% aluminum and 0.45% manganese. This alloy strikes a balance between strength, castability, and corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in both automotive and aerospace applications, contributing to the production of various components.

AZ61A, featuring 6% aluminum and 1% zinc, along with small amounts of manganese and other elements, offers good strength and corrosion resistance. It is often chosen for extruded profiles and forgings, making it a valuable choice in industries like bicycle manufacturing and aircraft components.

WE43 is a specialized magnesium alloy incorporating 4% yttrium and 3% rare earth elements. Renowned for its exceptional creep resistance at elevated temperatures, it is a crucial material in applications within the aerospace and defense sectors, where high-temperature stability is paramount.

ZK60A is a high-strength magnesium alloy comprising 6% zinc and 0.6% zirconium. This alloy stands out for its excellent tensile strength and is frequently utilized in applications that demand robust structural performance, including the production of sporting equipment and aircraft components.

Key features of Magnesium Alloy

Low Density

Magnesium alloys are known for their exceptionally low density, making them one of the lightest structural materials available. This property is a game-changer in industries like aerospace and automotive, where weight reduction is crucial for improving fuel efficiency and performance.

High Strength-to-Weight Ratio

Despite their low density, magnesium alloys offer impressive strength. This high strength-to-weight ratio is valuable in applications where both durability and reduced weight are desired, such as in aircraft components and sporting equipment.

Excellent Castability

Many magnesium alloys, like AZ91D, exhibit excellent castability, allowing for intricate and complex shapes to be formed through die-casting processes. This feature is crucial in producing parts with intricate designs in various industries.

Good Corrosion Resistance

Certain magnesium alloys, like AZ31B, provide good corrosion resistance, ensuring longevity and reliability, especially in applications where exposure to moisture and environmental elements is common. This makes them suitable for components that require durability in various conditions.

Electromagnetic Shielding

Magnesium alloys offer effective electromagnetic shielding, making them suitable for applications where electrical interference needs to be minimized or contained, such as in electronic devices and communication equipment.

Magnesium alloys are highly recyclable, contributing to sustainability efforts in various industries. Recycling magnesium consumes significantly less energy compared to primary production, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

High Heat Dissipation

These alloys have excellent thermal conductivity, aiding in efficient heat dissipation. This property is advantageous in applications like heat sinks and thermal management systems in electronics and LED lighting.

Some magnesium alloys, such as ZK60A, are non-magnetic, making them suitable for applications where magnetic interference is a concern, such as in medical equipment and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices.

Magnesium alloys exhibit biocompatibility and are non-toxic to the human body. This feature makes them suitable for medical implants and devices, including orthopedic implants and stents.

Manufacturers can customize magnesium alloys to meet specific application requirements, producing components in various forms and shapes tailored to the unique needs of different industries. This flexibility ensures the alloys are versatile and adaptable.
